Timken TechTips Well Received by Automotive Aftermarket Industry

CANTON, Ohio, May 15, 2006 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- The Timken Company's (NYSE: TKR) TechTips series is earning high marks throughout the automotive aftermarket industry. This exclusive series of technical sheets gives installers, technicians, instructors and do-it-yourselfers valuable information about the installation and maintenance of Timken(R) bearings, seals and other components.

TechTips helps automotive personnel install and maintain Timken products to take full advantage of their performance and the systems in which they operate. Maximizing product performance and life is an objective throughout Timken, from design teams and manufacturing associates to field sales associates and distributors.

"We're pleased to know that so many in the automotive aftermarket business find Timken TechTips helpful," said Barry Harris, marketing manager for the automotive aftermarket in North America and South America. "It's a great example of how Timken goes beyond bearings and related products to provide total friction management solutions. It's where both professionals and do-it- yourselfers turn for technical product information."

Industry professionals use TechTips to better serve their customers. Ralph Henderson, service manager at Guess Motors in Carrollton, Ohio, uses TechTips, particularly those relating to damage analysis, when explaining automotive repair work to customers.

Mario Caraso, mechanical engineer and automotive foreman at PAE Group Colombia Ltd. in Bogota, Colombia, signed up online to receive TechTips via e- mail. "The information is fantastic. I can present TechTips to our technicians and know they're getting reliable, up-to-the-minute data about bearings, diagnostics and repair."

TechTips reaches its target audience in several ways: as a regular feature in Tomorrow's Technician magazine; through distribution of hard copies and CDs at trade shows and events; and online at http://www.timken.com/AutoTechTips.
