Timken Receives Gold Award for Its Single-Point Lubricators

CANTON, Ohio, Mar 12, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- The Timken Company recently received top honors in Plant Engineering's Product of the Year Awards Competition for its G-Power and M-Power single-point lubricators. Voted on by the magazine's readers, Timken's Gold Award in the maintenance products category was presented by Plant Engineering publisher Jim Langhenry during the awards ceremony on February 24 in Chicago. G-Power and M-Power are single- point lubricators; one is gas-powered, one is motorized. They connect to existing plant equipment and apply precise amounts of lubricant to bearings, as well as chains, guideways, gears and seals.

Chosen from nearly 300 entrants across 15 categories, Timken's single- point lubricators were first screened by an independent panel of plant engineers based on the criteria of usefulness in plant engineering work, innovative design, problem-solving capabilities and broad industrial appeal. After the judges narrowed the field to 150 finalists, readers of Plant Engineering's November 2003 issue had an opportunity to cast their vote in determining the Gold, Silver and Bronze Award recipients within each category.

"The single-point lubricator combines an innovative concept -- gas- and motored-powered lubrication -- with Timken's expertise in the study of lubrication," said Scott G. Biltz, global manager-new products for Timken's Industrial Group. "We are gratified that users of the products rewarded our efforts with the Gold Award. Through our team's efforts, we are solving problems and creating value for our customers."

"This gold award is recognition of Timken's leadership in developing products that plant engineers need and use," said Rick Dunn, editor of Plant Engineering magazine. "Timken has a long history of providing quality products to the plant engineering market, so it's nice to see them added to our Product of the Year winners list."

In addition to selling the single-point lubricators, Timken supplies hardware for installation as well as Timken-formulated grease and more than 200 types of commercial lubricants with which to fill the units. Introduced in December of 2002, these devices are available through authorized Timken distributors throughout North America and Europe.
